The Les Penseurs materials are designed to meet the educational needs of the gifted and advanced student. They are intended to provide these students with appropriate and challenging educational experiences beyond the basics of the core curriculum. These extended materials provide a deeper and broader understanding of core concepts and offer the opportunity to enhance learning.
The Les Penseurs curriculum is organized into units of study, each with a central theme, that will allow the student to pursue varied interests through exposure to a wide variety of subject matter and resources. While the activities are tailored to specific learning and interest levels, all focus on skills that can be applied to real world problems and issues.
Gifted and advanced learners are able to understand content at a more complex or abstract level and to learn at an accelerated rate. They learn best by utilizing higher order thinking skills such as analysis, synthesis, and evaluation to manipulate the content and to derive meaning from their studies.
